A few kilometres from Lake Bled, near the village of Stara Fuzina, you will find the hidden Mostnica gorge, where a small elephant hides. The 2 km long Slovenian gorge is preceded only by the Vintgar and Tolmin gorges. You will find Mostnica in the alpine Voje Valley, formed by the same name stream. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sights in the Lake Bohinj area.

The gorge is narrow in some sections, some less than 1 m wide. The trail will lead you along the edge of the rocks or a bit further from the edges - in the forest. You can walk on both sides of the gorge.

Tip: If you want to go on a longer hike, start from the village of Star Fuzina and go on a 12.9 km hike. In this case, you will hike through the magnificent Voje valley.

#1 Little elephant rock ?

Not only the unique colour of the gorge attracts visitors, but also its special rock formations. Its most beautiful part is a rock, which resembles a small elephant. The main image of the article also shows this "Little Elephant". It got its name from the fact that from a certain angle it looks like a drinking elephant.

#2 Devil's bridge

It reaches the greatest depth of the canyon under the legendary Devil's Bridge, where the river roars 20 meters deep. According to legend, the Devil himself built the bridge, in return demanding the first crossing soul. Evading the evil, the original builder of the bridge sent a dog across the bridge with an insidious pull.

The less exciting truth is that the bridge was built in 1777 by Baron Ziga Zois to make it easier to transport coal and iron. The bridge is also interesting from an engineering point of view, as it is made up of a single arch.
